PLEASE READ BEFORE PLAYING:

  • Yes, this game can be really hard. When in doubt, reload the page. The levels are randomly generated. The level you are on will be saved.
  • Yes, the hitboxes are horrible. No, I'm not going to do anything about them. I used Kaboom.js. What did you expect?
  • Yes, there may be glitches and problems. If the game freezes up or something unexpected happens, try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, please report it in the comments. Bug fixes will be issued after the jam ends.


Now that I'm done with that rant, let's move on the the important stuff.

ABOUT

phases is a game divided up into three levels, for each state of water (a.k.a. aqua). It follows the story of a little water drop whose dad was cruelly taken away. Now, it's up to you to help it rescue its father. Will you prevail? Or will you slam your fists into your PC? There's only one way to find out!


CONTROLS

All the controls you need are shown in the game, but here they are in case you need them:

  • left and right arrow keys - move left and right (all levels)
  • space - jump (levels 2 and 3 only)


ENTITIES (spoiler)

‎ ‎ 

Level 1:

  • Clouds - Decreases your temperature. When your temperature drops below the line, you condense back into a liquid and fall back down.
  • Fire - Increases your temperature. When your temperature bar is full, you gain a small speed boost.
  • Spikes - Deals 1 damage upon contact.
  • Platform - Obstructs you from moving up. You die when you go offscreen.

Level 2:

  • Spikes - See Level 1.
  • Mines - Explodes on contact, instantly killing you. However, once exploded, it will be destroyed forever. Use this to your advantage!
  • Pipes - Spurts out toxic fumes. Touching the toxic fume deals 1 damage.

Level 3:

  • Milk / Cola - When approaching, it may start shaking. This is indicates that it will be falling. If it falls on you, it deals one damage. Fallen Milks / Colas will stay fallen.
  • Egg Launcher - Similar to the pipes in Level 2. Shoots eggs instead. Eggs deal 1 damage on contact.

BOSSES (spoiler)

Level 1: 

big fat cloud

Follows you around. Every now and then, launches either a lightning bolt or a light beam. Both deal 1 damage upon contact. Both are always launched from the center of the big fat cloud. After some time, a platform will come out from the side. Hide under the platform, which will deflect oncoming attacks back onto the big fat cloud.

Level 2:

Level 3:

angry orange popsicle

Similar to the big fat cloud. However, attacks by attempting to hit the player every now and then. Each attack causes the boss to lose more health as it slowly breaks itself.
